Making my very first tree skirt....NO-SEW! I've seen so many cute no-sew baby blankets using fleece! So when I saw this tree skirt kit at JoAnn Fabrics I decided to give it a whirl ~~~AND~~~ the kit was ON SALE!...so, of course I took advantage of that! hahahaaa :-D
How-to, DIY directions are also posted here in a photo.
Thank you for stopping in here at my blog....I know this is the blog I share paper creations and that I usually share my quilting and sewing projects on Nonni's Creative Place (http://creativescnonni.wordpress.com )but I couldn't access it from my smart phone today.
Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated :-)

I love glitter...it's a fun medium to spruce up any card. :)

The kit includes everything needed to create the cards pictured here except for the dry tape adhesive. Plenty of glitter is left over for future projects.....5 vials of fine glitter and 1 vial of gorgeous blue tinsel glitter.

This was one of the most favorite card classes I taught at Michaels Arts & Crafts Store this month. I didn't design the cards pictured here, I made these cards following the directions inside the box. The cards were designed by Martha Stewart.
Most of the flower die cuts also have ink pad distressing to give them dimension under the clear Liquid Glass.

I used Martha Stewart's 'Double Loop' Around-the-Page punch for the straight edge to give the cards a feminine touch....and then I also ink distressed the punched edge to highlight the punched loops.

We're partnering with the Medical University of SC Childrens Hospital.

I really wish I could share all of the girls' happy faces crafting away.....cutting paper and making their precious memory scrapbooks but due to their privacy and HIPPA regulations I'm unable to show the true joy this event is for them....but do know that they are loving every minute. :)

Hosting this event was one of the most fulfilling days I have experienced in a very long time. These young ladies are inspiring with their emotional strength and love of life on a daily basis. I was blessed to be a part of this ....... teaching the art of scrapbooking family memories.

The stamp sets are a couple of my favorites.... I have always liked using holly images in my art work and for decorating. The set also has images of doves, another truly favorite stamping image of mine. There's also a wreath image that I used to create a cute pocket card that I will post when I add the finishing touches.

Thank you for dropping in here to see my card creations and, hopefully, you've seen something to inspire you to create a beautiful card of your own.
I made these hand stamped note cards for a friend; she wanted something with a lady bug design to put into a basket of Mary Kay products she was making for one of her clients. I also made a gift box with a clear acetate lid to hold the cards. Her basket looked fabulous....what a great idea!

I liked this set so much that I made another set to sell on Etsy. All stamp images are from Close to My Heart; the only products used that aren't CTMH are the ladybug ribbon and the red Stickles glitter which are both from Michaels Arts & Crafts Store.

~ Embellished with bright green ribbon decorated w/red ladybugs
~ Hand stamped green flourishs on front of note card
~ A stamped ladybug image highlights the front of each card as well as on the inside of note card
~ a CTMH white crochet flower (with added glitter) centered on the front with lady bug ribbon & bright green CTMH crocheted fibers
~ Envelope also has a hand stamped green flourish in the corner with the stamped & red hand colored ladybug to match note card.
I've been wanting to add a signature for the LONGEST time but didn't know how to do it. I'm an instructor at Michaels Arts & Craft Store. I teach the scrapbooking and card classes. The picture above shows the cards I made to display at Michaels, showing the students what they will create.
Everyone will learn a few different techniques....heat embossing, paper tearing, ink distressing, random stamping, scissor distressing and using a paper punch.
The paper punch we'll be using is Martha Stewart's 'Punch Around the Page' Double Loops, but we'll only use the straight paper punch in the set to create the feminine edge on one of the light pink cards.
I really love the CTMH stamp set (Find Your Style #D1492) I used for the images...one of my new favorites. :)
Thank you so much for stopping in...hope my creations inspired some ideas for you. My son was involved in a house fire in December. His house caught on fire around his fireplace in the wee early hours of the morning. To make a long story short, my son caught on fire, was critically burned and transported by helicopter to a burn unit. My son fought very hard to recover from his burns but lost his life after 30 days in the burn unit ICU.
I have been struggling to be creative .... I am getting better every day. Cutting paper, stamping images, laying out ideas for cards and scrapbook pages is starting to be the perfect therapy for me.
I will be posting and sharing my creations later on this week....that's my promise to all of you. I am also planning to post teaching tutorials in the future. I also have been creating handmade cards & albums for customers & craft fairs. A few of my long distance/online card customers will place an order and supply me with an address for me to mail it for them.
I have been meditating, praying and healing since my son's death. I apologize to you all for being absent. I promise to be making & mailing cards, creating scrapbook layouts, and sharing with you here on my blog.
Thank you for stopping in....thank you for understanding.Barbarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09070871280360801924noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1473266425915507723.post-74488965675995978382010-09-17T20:27:00.001-04:002010-09-17T20:34:26.774-04:00~^~ Handmade Halloween Cards using CTMH Hooligans Paper Pack ~^~I have been busy making cards .... some to sell and some to give away.
Each gift bag contained:

6" x 6" handmade accordian album (posted previously in detail earlier this month)

an information sheet with all kinds of interesting tidbits about the Bahamas

a beautiful silk fan to keep the ladies cool during the beach wedding ceremony

cute jar of colorful candies

and a special letter from me and my husband thanking everyone for making the arrangements they had to make to enable them to witness our daughter, Rachel, and Mike exchange their marriage vows on Cable Beach.

Everyone absolutely LOVED their gift bag....they really turned out to be very cute. The letter I wrote and placed in each gift bag was very appreciated. Writing that letter was an emotional sharing of feelings straight from my heart for the wonderful people that spent their time with us for the destination wedding and the Bahama vacation days that followed. We had such a wonderful time with each other; it was such a beautiful beach wedding.
I'm also going to try using my Close To My Heart paper in place of the ribbon; I really think it would look beautiful and shouldn't be difficult to make. When I finish that project, I will also share a picture...so please come back to see my finished holiday ornaments. :-)
It was AMAZING, to say the least. Twenty-four guests witnessed Rachel & Mike's beautiful beach wedding; it was an event of a lifetime....
I thought it would be a great idea to make a 6 x 6 accordian album for each of the attending couples. That way all of their beautiful pictures wouldn't stay on a data chip or in a box somewhere...moments in time displayed & able to revisit the gorgeous Bahama wedding event for years to come. There's even enough area for journaling special thoughts & memories. ENJOY......
Wow! A Cricut that can actually help me decorate a cake!! Really?! I could not fathom how it could possibly work!
Well, today I found a YOUtube video tutorial showing a short, simple demonstration of how it works...curiousity had a tight grip and I just had to watch it....
Here is the tutorial, if you're a "Curious George" like I am...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqRpEeLBqUE

This is not my video, it's from another scrapbooker that loves her Cricut and is happy to show us all...I love my Cricut Expression and all of the paper creations it helps me design so I know a cake decorator would get tons of use out of this Cricut Cake....and it's red!!! Too cute!!Barbarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09070871280360801924noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1473266425915507723.post-89327077631009330622010-04-10T22:45:00.002-04:002010-04-11T11:02:07.949-04:006x6 Close To My Heart accordian album for Dog Lovers - You Rock paper pakWhen I sit down to start creating 'something' I never know where my imagination will take me. I started out with a plan to make a frilly, girly card using all blue hues with flowers and florishes...but this 6x6 dog-lover's accordian album is what I ended up making! CTMH's goldrush and outdoor denim is a far cry from what I mentally started out to make..too funny...does anyone else do that? I really would love to know.

Anyways.....
Here are some pictures of my most recent creation. Thanks for taking a look and thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments left for me....I like knowing that you've stopped in so I can visit your blog. :-)

I did the scissor distressing technique on the edges of most of the white core cardstock. I love Close To My Heart's cardstock...LOVE IT!!
The paper tearing technique was used on most of the patterned CTMH B&T papers.
I knew I wanted to use some sort of red hue since it's February and at work we celebrate it as "Heart Healthy Month." I made 9 cards with a little variance in the flower embellishments that I created by layering different flowers & then stamping on them.
This month we are featuring our Imagine Scrapbook Recipe Book. This is a wonderful book FULL of scrapbook "recipes" and the one that I chose to make and picture hear is called "IN THE GROOVE" ; page layout recipe & a color sample of the lay out can be found on pages 20 & 21.
I made the scrapbook pages 9" x 9" (instead of 12 x 12). The scrapbook pages will be placed in a MyLegacy Linen Album for my son-in-law for his birthday in April. He's tired of digital pictures that he can't look at and share with visiting friends & family .....Makes totally good sense to me...and is right up my alley! Smart man.
